Casa Mexico, nestled in the heart of Philadelphia, is a wonderful gem for anyone craving authentic Mexican cuisine. The standout feature here is their masa, which is ground by hand right in front of diners. This commitment to freshness results in tortillas that are truly unique, as noted by patrons like Robert Balton, who raved about the perfectly spiced offerings such as guacamole, ceviche, and tostados.
Timothy David emphasizes the restaurant’s ability to deliver tender, juicy meats and praises their spiced coffee. His excitement over the generous taco servings showcases Casa Mexico’s attention to both quality and quantity. The mole chicken, recommended by C Portillo, strikes a perfect balance between sweet and spicy, further solidifying the restaurant’s reputation for authentic flavors.
Families will find a welcoming atmosphere, as children will enjoy hearty options like quesadillas. Overall, diners appreciate the friendly service, vibrant atmosphere, and reasonable prices. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Casa Mexico is a must-visit destination for those looking to indulge in a truly authentic Mexican dining experience.

Is the masa fresh? Considering that they grind the soaked corn by hand right in front of you... yes it IS! it results in the most unique tortillas I’ve ever tasted! This place is a treasure. Everything is spiced perfectly... heat but no burn! Guac, esquites, ceviche, tostados... all too die for! Add great, friendly service... this is an amazing find!

Wow just wow. Authentic good eat. Made a perfect brunch and the service was great. The meat was tender and juicy and the sauces provided were great. Try their spiced coffee, it really warmed the soul. UPDATE: Finally got there tacos and woooooooow. The carnitas is so juicy and tasty. Major points for getting 4 tacos instead of 3 like most places AND get being able to switch them up. 2nd UPDATE: Man I can not stop writing about this place. Got soup this time and the ceviche. Both excellent dishes. Nothing on this menu has disappointed me and the service is amazing.

My family and I decided to go to Casa Mexico after realizing that our favorite taco place (South Philly Barbacoa) had closed for the day. We ordered the chicken with mole and it was served with delicious rice and beans and warm tortillas. The mole was perfectly sweet and spicy. We also ordered cecina tacos that were served with nopal and onions. The tacos were tasty and packed meat and authentic flavor. Our 5 year old loved the rice and beans. The prices are reasonable and worth it. The best part was meeting Chef Cristina Martinez. I’ve been a fan for years. We recommend Casa Mexico to anyone looking for authentic Mexican cuisine.

4.8 for sure. Food is really really good. I’m a California native who is very picky about Mexican food and this one is a good spot to hit. Tacos here are just right and they give chips and salsa free which is always great. Drink options are lackluster but the food makes up for it. Definitely come here for authentic Mexico taste. Kids menu is good too, my son love the quesadillas. The chorizo here is also very authentic and not overly greasy.

Great tacos! I tried the Barbacoa when they were located at their old location, amazing. The owner of South Philly Barbacoa relocated to her new location inside Casa Mexico. The new space is three doors down on 9th towards Washington Ave. Pictured here is the Chorizo. Nice flavor and had a little spice kick but not overpowering. Will order again. I only wish you were able to mix and match the tacos - to be able to explore the menu within the same visit. Considering the tacos are priced the same. I don’t see why you can’t mix the choice of meat for three tacos. Overall, still a great experience. If you are concerned about not speaking Spanish. It’s okay. Spanish and English are spoken and understood when you place your order. Things to note: If you order from the South Philly Barbacoa menu CASH ONLY. The Casa Mexico menu takes all payments: Cash & Card. You order first then you can seat yourself. It gets crowded depending on the time of day & day of the week. I went on a Sunday. Wasn’t crowded when arrived but as my food showed up and I was leaving. It was a nice amount of people waiting to order. There is limited outdoor seating and you can sit inside Casa Mexico, as well. I recommend trying Casa Mexico if you enjoy authentic Mexican food. Freshly made tortillas!

We recently checked out Casa Mexico while we were in Philly, and we must say that we felt like family and at home! The service, music, food, and ambiance were all outstanding. I loved the mole and could taste the care that went into making ...

This place is a vibe! We drive 45 minutes for delicious breakfast el gratin sarten and for lunch the taco salads and pitchers of margaritas. The service is always top notch and the food is so good. During the summer you can sit out on the boardwalk to people watch.
